Life has a funny way of happening. I’ve always been a creative person but when I wanted to move to Greenwich Village in New York City, become a Beatnik and study art after finishing high school, my mother put her foot down . . . hard! I had to find some other medium through which I could express my creativity. Although food was the answer, I was much too chicken to pursue my dream. After 20 years of “hobby cooking”, here I am! Julia Child is my alter ego and my inspiration for finally stepping over the culinary edge. Julia wasn’t afraid to tackle anything and she enjoyed herself immensely. Frankly, I think she was the original Iron Chef. Her “Bon Appetite” and glass of wine were her trademark. So, here’s to Julia! In February 2003, we started cooking our way around the Cedar Rapids area. During our evolution, we've discovered that a love of great food and a sense of adventure inspire us to continue finding ways to creatively delight and satisfy the Cedar Rapids’ area palate At Julia-n-LeChef, we translate your individual tastes, preferences and lifestyle into customized menus that will satisfy your appetite for healthy home cooked meals. We combined many years of “hobby cooking”, sound nutrition and a sense of adventure to create simply elegant meals. We are growing and adding people to our Team who are just as passionate about food and our Clients as Tom and I. Shawn Gibson-Schild returned to help us as Manager of “Gatherings”. Jim Walker joined us as Sales Representative Extraordinaire. Ken Boerner is our Sous Chef and Terese Mosley is our Cook. We hope to publish our Team Portrait very soon! Mean while, I’ll continue to keep you company until we our Team Portrait has been completed.
